Dita Von Teese reveals she wants to be on Britain's Got Talent
Burlesque star Dita Von Teese has revealed Simon Cowell is a fan of her work and hinted she would be keen to appear alongside him on the judging panel of Britain's Got Talent.
She said the music mogul had watched her perform in the past and admitted "it would be fun" to appear on the hit ITV1 show.
Speaking at the launch of her perfume in central London, Von Teese said: "He's seen my show, I think he's a great guy."
When asked if she would consider joining Cowell on the judging panel, she said: "I love being entertained. I think it would be fun."
Broadcasting regulator Ofcom received scores of complaints from viewers after 27-year-old burlesque dancer Beatrix Von Bourbon appeared on the latest series of Britain's Got Talent before the 9pm watershed.
Cowell likened the contestant to Von Teese as she was sent through to the next round of the show.
Von Teese, who is credited with bringing burlesque to the mainstream, defended the dance style but admitted it may not be suitable for younger viewers.
The 39-year-old performer said: "When I started performing burlesque in the 1990s it was a much different fan base.
"It was a little more underground back then. There were a lot of fetish fans and a more male-based audience.
"There's been a definite shift. The audience now is predominately female with a lot of women finding their own sensual power.
"It's not very often that I've come under fire for my show. I believe that burlesque was always meant to be titillating and risque.
"I can see why some people may have been upset if they didn't come to watch a burlesque show and they are watching with their children. I try to be fairly careful about how I do things."
Von Teese - once married to rock star Marilyn Manson - attended luxury fashion store Liberty in central London to launch her new self-named perfume.
Contained in black glass bottles in an homage to the 1930s, the fragrance is composed of fresh peonies, fizzy bergamot, and Bourbon pepper, to create a scent which includes Bulgarian rose, Tahitian Tiare petals, and fresh jasmine.
Von Teese revealed she wanted to create a fragrance after her boyfriend told her she was wearing the same scent as his mother.
She said: "When I told him the name of the fragrance he kind of hesitated and revealed that this was also his mother's perfume. And I was thinking 'Oh my Gosh, I smell like his mother'.
"So I started hunting for other fragrances that could replace it and there were some which I really liked, but none of them felt like the real me and fit me. So, I decided to create my own scent and this was a dream come true.
"Early on I understood that perfume is a very important part of creating your own mystery and glamour - it's a tool for a woman to become every woman she ever wanted to be."
