Daisy's changed – and not for the better

John Boland

We all grow older, some more startlingly than others. At the beginning of the new millennium, Daisy Donovan made a name for herself as the sassy, sexy co-host of Channel 4's satirical The 11 O'Clock Show, alongside such other budding talents as Ali G and Ricky Gervais.

Now, 13 years later, she's fronting the same channel's The Greatest Shows on Earth and, yikes, she's a complete puritan, harrumphing in Daily Mail fashion about trashy Brazilian TV shows that feature bikini and "bum-bum" contests and other such nonsense.

Never mind that Clive James covered this territory, and much more entertainingly, a couple of decades ago – it's the transformation from irreverent posh totty to humourless frump that's really quite sad.
