IT’S struggled since its debut in the US, however this week’s new series saw ratings dip to an all-time low.

The show debuted in the States two years ago amid a multi-million dollar advertising campaign by Fox, however it never gained the traction with audiences rival American Idol enjoys.

The Network surprised many industry insiders when it handed the show a third series last year, however now it appears the show’s future is once again in doubt.

The new series debuted to just 6.2m viewers, down from the 7.5m who tuned in to see Britney Spears’ debut last year.

It represents a 17pc loss of views in a year – a worrying result for Cowell after a judging panel re-vamp.

The show has lost four judges over its two series run, with Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio replacing Britney Spears and LA Reid this year.
