Claire Danes: Homeland's pregnant sex scenes were 'unpleasant'
Claire Danes found filming season two of Homeland “really unpleasant”.
The actress plays bi-polar CIA officer Carrie Mathison in the hit Showtime drama series. During the shows second series, Claire was pregnant with her son Cyrus and it progressed during filming, the experience became less enjoyable.
“I had to do love scenes pregnant. That was really unpleasant,” she recalled during a round table chat with The Hollywood Reporter.
The 35-year-old gave birth to Cyrus on December 17 2012. But Claire recalls her son being particularly active during the lovemaking scenes while still in her belly.
“[It was] like he was protesting on my husband's [Hugh Dancy] behalf,” she joked.
As well as the sex scenes, Claire also had to get physical in the shows action scenes. But with only six weeks to go until her due date, the My So Called Life star found it particularly difficult.

“As my baby progressed, the show got more action-packed. At one point, we were shooting in an old sewage factory. I was kidnapped, I was chained to a pipe, it was 4 a.m., I was seven and a half months pregnant, and I was like, 'This sucks,' "she recalled.
Claire went on to film a third season of Homeland after taking some time to enjoy motherhood. The series ended with a shock ending as Damian Lewis’ character, Brody, was finally killed. For Claire, the realisation that she won’t get to work with the British actor any more hasn’t fully sunk in.
“I still don't think I've really processed it. I go back to work in a month, and I think it'll occur to me then that he's really gone,” she said. “It'll be a very different environment when we return and Damian, whom I love, isn't there.”
