A THIRD season of the hit show 'Moone Boy' is to be commissioned, the Irish Independent has learned.

As filming for the second series of the Sky One show continues in Boyle, Co Roscommon, sources close to the production revealed a third series was being commissioned. The official announcement is set to be made within weeks.

The cast and crew of 'Moone Boy' -- including writer and star Chris O'Dowd -- set the clock back in Boyle yesterday, when they filmed a St Patrick's Day parade in the town.

Local Fine Gael TD Frank Feighan loved his part as an extra in a role that came easy to him -- a politician enjoying the town parade.

"The 'Moone Boy' people asked me would I be a dignitary on the trailer for the parade and I suppose there's not that much acting in it for me," he said.

Mr Feighan is no stranger to the limelight, he previously appeared on the RTE show 'You're a Star' in 2006.
