AXED X Factor star Joseph Whelan has slammed the talent show as a fix after being eliminated at the bootcamp stage of the competition.
Joseph was an early favourite to win the competition after he wowed the judges with his powerful rock voice.
However viewers on Sunday saw him not progress into the boys category of the competition, which will be mentored by Nicole Scherzinger.
A Facebook page was set up by disgruntled fans of the singer and has amassed over 200,000 likes since Sunday’s show.
The singer told The Sun: “I nailed all three of my performances and didn’t get one negative comment from the judges, so I was in complete shock when they kicked me out.”
He claimed his elimination was intended to cause controversy: “The X Factor loves controversy, they obviously decided the backlash was worth getting rid of me for.”
Joseph hit out at flamboyant Essex native Rylan Clarke who made it through to judges’ houses, claiming he can’t sing.
“Rylan has a great look and a great personality, but the man can’t sing. I’m not sorry I entered though. Despite everything, it has been a great platform for me.”
An X Factor Spokesperson said: “The standard is very high this year and not all acts can make it through to the next stage.”
Joseph has not set his sights on taking on the eventual winner for the Christmas number one: “Maybe I’ll beat the winner to Christmas number one this year”.
Judges’ houses begins on the X Factor this weekend.
