A real-life French Spiderman resorted to suction cups and a rope to climb a hotel to promote new flick The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Rock and urban climber Alain Robert scaled over the 500-foot tall Galaxy Hotel in China, which is covered in smooth glass.

The 52-year-old is famous for climbing more than 70 of the world's tallest skyscrapers with no safety equipment and has been dubbed the ‘‘French Spiderman’’.

‘‘It started getting a bit rainy and that made the surface a bit slippery,’’ he said, describing the climb as difficult.

He lined up for the stunt in Macau to publicise the new movie and finished the climb in an impressive 30 minutes.

At 33 storeys, the Chinese hotel was relatively small compared to some of Robert’s other challenges.
