Two Irish lads attempt to top Christmas music charts with comedy tune
The nation is asked to ‘Giz a Hand at Xmas’ with all proceeds going to charity
Comedy duo Ryan Hand and Matthew Purdy have teamed up in a musical battle for the coveted top spot in the Christmas charts this year.
TV presenter Ryan has enlisted his housemate Matthew – and the power of social media – to help knock the likes of X Factor songs off the No1 slot.
Their collaboration, a ditty called ‘A Purdy Handy Christmas’, is currently being promoted through the boys’ campaign ‘Giz a Hand at Xmas’ – and is doing well so far.
This is good news for chosen charities Cancer Research and The Eve Appeal who are set to reap the benefits of the humorous song’s success.
According to the talented pair, their ‘cheesy’ tune has grabbed the attention of almost 4,000 YouTube viewers in just a few days.
“I’ve always thought to myself how hard can it be to write a Christmas Number One?,” said Ryan.
“The response has been phenomenal; a fan uploaded a video to YouTube of the song playing in her car as she drove home from Christmas shopping. People are Tweeting us saying they’re humming it while making dinner and it’s stuck in their head.”
“Paddy Power have offered us odds of 80/1 while Bet 365 offered us 50/1 to top the charts which isn’t bad,” he added.
‘A Purdy Handy Christmas’ will be available on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify while the lads’ campaign can be followed on Twitter @GizAHandAtXmas and Facebook.
