Teenager playing his music on headphones so loudly he missed tornado spin past
A TEENAGER was listening to music so loudly on his headphones he managed to miss a tornado whip past him.
18-year-old Wyatt Schrepfer from Colorado was mowing the lawn with his headphones in when he missed the impending natural disaster.
He told TV station KRDO that he only became aware something was happening when his hat was blown off his head.
"It was coming in on my over my left shoulder so I didn't see it," Schrepfer told the station.
"The hood of the tractor blew up and when I stood up to pull it back down, my hat flew off behind me, so I turned and saw it," Schrepfer said.
"My first reaction was to take cover."
He took cover and managed to escape with only minor injuries to his back.
The 110-mile an hour tornado was the first to hit the area in over 30 years.
