Taoiseach Enda Kenny may have been under fire since he took up the chief position, but this week he has shown he can handle the heat.

It's been a busy few weeks for Enda.

We could all understand if he was a little burned out after his recent trip to Japan, but between Fine Gael increasing in the polls by four points to 30pc, reclaiming his position as most popular party leader in the country and our brand-new escape from the bailout, the Taoiseach is on fire.

Today, while visiting the Glen Dimplex plant at Dunleer, Co. Louth, the Mayo man went on to prove he is well and truly fireproof.

OK, the flame may be artificial, but just don't tell the Troika.
