SKY News' anchor Kay Burley has become a viral sensation after running up an escalator the wrong way during a live broadcast - and falling over at the top.

The incident happened this morning during a media scrum at an event staged by the families of missing passengers from the Malaysian airlines flight.

Two relatives of the passengers had  been forcibly removed from the press conference, as they attempted to unveil a banner.

A media scrum then ensued around the family members as they were being escorted from the building.

In a bid to find out what was going on and to talk to the family members affected, Kay frantically ran up the escalator the wrong way shouting "I should have gone to the gym!"

She then stumbled and crashed to the ground as she reached the top.

Despite the frenzy, professional Burley then reported how one of the relatives had been knocked to the floor by the scrum.

This isn't the first time Kay's gone viral.

Memorably, she made Peter Andre cry live on air when she grilled him about his relationship with former wife Katie Price and their two children.

She was also a hit on Twitter last year when she reported on the birth of Prince George.

She also reported live from the scene outside the maternity hospital for a total of 30 hours, but most of the time she was reporting about nothing.

The presenter also offended Catholics during a press conference with US vice president Joe Biden.

The press conference was being held on Ash Wednesday, with Biden wearing ash on his forehead.

Burley exclaimed: "What's happened to his head? It looks like he's walked into a door!"

After a moment of awkward silence, Burley apologised for the gaffe, saying: "I've said three Hail Marys, everything is going to be fine."
