Users of social media platforms Twitter and Facebook have found a new way to overshare - with 'selfies' of themselves in - and emerging from - the shower.

The trend follows other ill-advised selfie fads like the #AfterSexSelfie, #DrivingSelfie and #FuneralSelfie.

Overshare culture taken to new level with #AfterSex selfies

Users tweet images of their naked bodies either before, during or after the act of washing themselves. Many are strategically covered in suds while most are not.

Some users promise a #ShowerSelfie in return for engagement, with one cosplayer posting a topless pic after followers correctly guessed her "next cosplay".

#FuneralSelfie is the latest inappropriate trend

Twitter's lax rules on nudity mean that the images are widely available and public.

A warning if you search the hashtag on Twitter - images are very, very NSFW.
