THE Polish embassy here has created a video to celebrate ten years of EU membership.

“The staff of the Polish Embassy in Dublin wish to convey our gratitude to the Irish people for the openness and kindness they have shown to Poles in Ireland over the past decade”, it said.

The video pokes fun at several of the more unusual aspects of Irish life from a Pole’s point of view.

“We thank you for your unusual sports’, the video says as it shows shots of hurling.

“We thank you for all the cheerful and easy to read books”, the video jokes as it shows a woman reading a copy of James Joyce’s epic Ulysses.

The good old Full Irish also gets a send up, as the video says “we thank you for your healthy food”.

The video closes on a more sincere note – thanking the Irish people for being so open and making Poles here feel welcome over the last decade.
