Piers Morgan shares X-ray of fractured rib after facing Brett Lee in MCG nets
Piers Morgan's X-ray reveals damage inflicted by Brett Lee after he fired down six full-pace deliveries at the CNN host during Melbourne Test.
Piers Morgan has confirmed he suffered a fractured rib while facing six "brutally fast" Brett Lee deliveries during a media stunt in the MCG nets.
Morgan, the outspoken CNN host who publically said England had gone "soft" and "needed to grow a pair" after their Ashes humiliation at the hands of the Aussies, was challenged to face one over by Lee during the tea interval on day three in Melbourne.
Many had expected Lee to go easy on the 48 year-old, but the former Australian quick was anything but - hurling down six 80mph deliveries that struck, bowled and toppled him, and had 2,000 watching spectators crowing with delight.
Despite his wounds, Morgan insisted he had no regrets and both Morgan and Lee were spotted dining together at The Bathers' Pavilion in Balmoral, Sydney, on Monday night.
However, New Zealand cricketing legend Richard Hadlee launched a scathing attack on Lee over the weekend for his "brutal assault" on Morgan.
"[This] was a brain explosion of the highest order; it was a deliberate attempt to hit, injure, hurt and maim his opponent that I viewed as a form of grievous bodily harm or a human assault that could have proved fatal," he wrote in his Stuff.co.nz column.
