A pair of “haunted” children’s canvas shoes have gone up for sale for €53.

The Bill Body shoes by Adidas are purported to contain “a spirit of 90s Irish kid”.

“The kid’s name is Keith. Keith is a delightful boy’s spirit – friendly and polite,” the seller said.

The seller explained how they bought the sneakers at a market in Fermoy in Cork as a souvenir, and they picked up a “weird vibe” from the start.

“A nice elderly lady was selling them. After I bought them from her she said: ‘Oh, dear, you’ve made the right choice. You’ll like them a lot’ and then she winked at me. I got a weird vibe from that lady.

“Strange things started happening when I brought the sneakers home. I could feel that there’s someone else in the room even though I was alone. I also heard footsteps upstairs, like someone running. Sometimes bathroom door was open, but I never leave it open.”

“My TV was on when I came from work. I definitely turn it off before going anywhere. I also felt that someone was sitting on my bed. Honestly I was freaked out after a while. One day I saw a shadow coming out of the sneakers. They were on a chair in the living room. The shadow looked like child’s shape.”

The seller claims that when she returned to the market to speak to the old lady who sold them, this is what she said:

“She just smiled and said that I don’t need to worry, little Keith is a nice boy. I was puzzled and asked her what she meant. She added ‘He likes chocolate and 90s music’. I wanted to know more, but the lady smiled and said that she has to get back to work. She didn’t say anything more.”

The eBay seller claims that Keith did prove to like 90s music.

“I turned on Rednex ’ Cotton Eye Joe’ and started dancing. I could feel that someone was dancing with me. That was a weird, but nice feeling. That was the moment I knew for sure that Keith is real. We have a lot of fun with him since then. We listen to 90s music very often. He likes ‘Green Day’, Bon Jovi,  Britney Spears, No Doubt and other 90s bands and singers. We also listen to other popular music, but Keith’s favourite is 90s. Keith always dances with me.”

The seller says she has decided to part with Keith, “no matter how sad it is”.
