Carbon Nightclub Galway were "blown away" when they discovered a group of kind-hearted students had adopted a rescue dog and decided to treat them for their generosity.

The popular nightspot shared a post of the third-level students with their dog Biggie on their Facebook page and shared the touching story.

They explained: "On a glorious Monday evening, our promo team went around the various housing estates of Galway City to spread the good news of C6 to the masses who were out enjoying the rays.

"In one estate, we stumbled across this group of students with their pet dog 'Biggie' named after the King himself Notorious B.I.G.

"It turns out, these absolute legends picked up this dog from the pound to give it a warm, loving home.

"Biggie has, up to now had a traumatic time, to say the least, but thanks to these kind-hearted souls he will now be able to enjoy life once again."

They were so overjoyed to see how happy little Biggie is in his new home that they have decided to treat the gang involved, with an extra charitable donation thrown in if their post went viral.

They said: "We were blown away by this act of kindness that we have given all of the group VIP Wristbands & Bar Tabs as a thank you. As well as that, if this selfless act can get over 2K likes we'll donate €500 to the GalwaySPCA as well as fundraising tonight in the club for this fantastic charity!"

Within just three hours the post had racked up over 3,000 reactions and the nightclub team have promised to stay true to their word and hand over the cash to the charity.

A spokesperson for Carbon Nightclub told Independent.ie: "We're complete softies for animals and anything that helps highlights this is a huge plus!"
