These 8 celebs were older than Paul Weller when they became dads again

By Francesca Gosling

The singer isn’t the only star who loves to have little ones around.

Paul Weller has announced he is expecting his eighth child at the age of 58 – but he is not the oldest celebrity to enjoy fatherhood.

Here are some of the stars who were still growing their families in their 60s and 70s.

Rolling Stones singer Sir Mick Jagger welcomed his eighth child, son Deveraux Octavian Basil, with partner Melanie Hamrick in December last year, at the age of 73.

Film legend Charlie Chaplin was also 73 when he had his eighth child, Christopher, in 1962 with his fourth wife Oona O’Neill.

Another father of eight, singer Rod Stewart, became a dad again at 66 with the birth of his son Aiden – his second child with Penny Lancaster.

Ronnie Wood, also of the Rolling Stones, celebrated his 69th birthday last year with the arrival of his twin girls Gracie Jane and Alice Rose, with wife Sally Humphreys.

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch was 72 when he had his youngest child, Chloe, with ex-wife Wendi Deng in 2003 – she was a flower girl at her dad’s wedding to Jerry Hall last year.

Star Wars creator George Lucas had his fourth child, daughter Everest, at the age of 69 in 2013.

Robert De Niro was 68 when he and wife Grace Hightower welcomed Helen Grace to the world in 2011.

Sir Elton John and David Furnish welcomed their second son, Elijah, in 2013 when the singer was 66.

Paul announced this week that he is expecting his third child with Hannah Andrews later this year.

His spokesman said in a statement: “Hannah and baby are doing great and the whole family are looking forward to meeting the littlest Weller in the summer.”
