“I was only having the craic! A bad night that would never happen again. And sure, it was only a once-off. About 1000 once-offs…” Swimming against a sea of sessions and gaff parties, a young man tries to find himself in 21st century Dublin. Weekend Warrior is about Jack, a man in his mid 20’s struggling to get sober, leaving the only life he knows behind. This is a different look at addiction. We all know someone like Jack. Directed by Aonghus Óg McAnally, Weekend Warrior charts Jack’s journey from a life of rollovers to redemption. The play is written and performed by rising star Tony Doyle, who was most recently seen in the smash hit Dublin Oldschool. One of the most promising young actors in the country, he has also starred opposite Salma Hayek in Oscar nominee Jim Sheridan’s 11th Hour. Weekend Warrior plays Dublin’s Smock Alley Theatre February 15th & 16th at 8pm. Tickets from €8 are available from
