Delorentos have just been announced to play Culture Night in Merrion Square this Friday September 19.
The line-up spans artistic genres and ranges from the punchy guitar melodies of Delorentos (playing songs from their forthcoming new album "Night Becomes Light") to emerging talent Danny Battles, a seventeen year old singer-songwriter from Bantry.
An eclectic mix of acts will perform at the free event, which takes place in Merrion Square Park and celebrates the role of the Arts Council in supporting the arts scene in Ireland.
A segment dedicated to Poems That Make Grown Men Cry will feature a series of special guest readers including writer, director and film-maker Alan Gilsenan, Irish historian Diarmaid Ferriter and Irish folk musician Donal Lunny.
Kevin Barry, winner of the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, will give a reading and Irish actor Don Wycherley will deliver a one-man show, After Sarah Miles.
Sean nós singer Iarla Ó Lionáird and the Aspiro Choir (one of Ireland's leading youth choirs) will further broaden the musical entertainment on the night and The Liz Roche Dance Company will also perform on the night.
The event is free and will take place in Merrion Square on Culture Night, Friday 19th September. Tickets will be available on a rolling first come, first serve basis (with admittance throughout the evening) and gates open at 5.30pm.
