Bob Geldof and Sinéad Cusack among names to read poetry of W.B. Yeats at Abbey Theatre
Bob Geldof and Sinead Cusack are among the names who will take to the Abbey Theatre stage to read the poetry of W.B. Yeats.
The Abbey will host The Josephine Hart Poetry Hour which sees great poetry read by great actors.
Joining Geldof and Cusack for the one off event on Sunday February 21 at 5pm will be Lisa Dwan, Brooklyn's Peter Campion and Ruth McCabe, who will act as narrator.
Josephine Hart (1942-2011) was born and raised in Mullingar before moving to London in her twenties where she married Lord Maruice Saatchi in 1984.
She became a well-known and much-loved theatre producer in the West End, producing the award-winning hits The House of Bernarda Alba and The Black Prince.
She was also a best-selling author of six novels, including Damage which was adapted into a film with Juliette Binoche and Jeremy Irons.
Josephine died suddenly in 2011, and the Dean of Westminster Abbey arranged a memorial poetry reading in Westminster Abbey to mark her death, an honour never given to anyone previous or since.
Her passion for poetry led Josephine to found The Josephine Hart Poetry Hour in the 1990s and names including Bono, Ralph Fiennes, Jeremy Irons, Elizabeth McGovern, Edna O'Brien, Harold Pinter, Juliet Stevenson, Harriet Walter and Dominic West have all performed at the events.
