The Bunratty Chess Festival, which will take place in the Bunratty Castle Hotel next weekend, is going to be one of the strongest weekend tournaments in the world in 2015.

At this stage eight Grandmasters, including Gawain Jones, Nigel Short and Wesley So, have confirmed their participation. The latter is currently the No 7 player in the world.

Many chess fans value watching a well-conducted attack above anything else in chess. I hope that the following nice game recently played between two Grandmasters in the 44th Rilton Cup in Stockholm will satisfy most.

Grandelius - Turov

1.Nf3 Nf6 2.c4 e6

3.g3 a6 4.b3 c5

5.Bg2 b5 6.Nc3 Qb6?!

Bringing the queen out so early has clear drawbacks; it was better to play 6...b4.

7.e4!? d6 8.d4 Qa5?!

With this move Black falls further behind in development. He should have played 8...Nc6 instead.

9.Bd2 b4 10.Na4 cxd4

11.Nxd4 Bb7 12.0-0 Nbd7

13.Re1 Nc5

This move is practically forced as otherwise it's hard to deal with the threat of a2-a3.

14.Nxc5 dxc5 (D)

Black probably hoped to consolidate his position after 15.Nc2 Qc7, but White did not give him the chance:

15.Nxe6! fxe6 16.e5 Bxg2

17.exf6 Bb7 18.Rxe6+ Kf7

19.fxg7 Bxg7 20.Qg4

Black is helpless against numerous threats - 21.Rae1, 21.Re7+ and 21.Qf5+. For example, 20...Bxa1 loses to 21.Qf5+ Kg8 22.Re7.

20...Qd8

21.Rae1 Bf8 22.Bg5 Qd4

23.Re7+ Bxe7 24.Qe6+ 1-0
