In between all that partying you'll be doing this month you'll need to take a breather (and perhaps recover) in front of the telly and Netflix obliges with a host of treats for the festive season.

There are Christmas flicks galore from the wonderful Arthur Christmas to Love, Actually as well as the second series of The Crown, The Back to the Future trilogy, The Avengers, Spotlight, and a host of original films and series.

Here's what's new to Netflix in December:

If you fancy a cheesy Christmas binge to get you in the right frame of mind for the season ahead, Netflix has added all these festive flicks, available now:

A Wish for Christmas

A Wish for Christmas(1).jpg

It's a family TV movie with 'Christmas' in the title so expect little and you might be surprised (but we're not promising anything).  Lacey Chabert and Paul Green star.

Arthur Christmas

A wonderful animated flick the whole family will enjoy from Aardman.

Last Holiday

Last Holiday.jpeg

Queen Latifah and Timothy Hutton star in this remake about a woman with a terminal illness who decides to head off on a dream holiday where she transforms into the best version of herself.

Jingle all the way

Jingle all the way.jpeg

Arnie stars in this patchy (and that's being kind) 1997 flick which might just be worth a look for 90s nostalgia.

Deck the Halls

It's a bit of a festive buzz-kill this one, but if you're a bit of a grinch it's worth a look.

Miracle on 34th street

The 1994 remake is another one for 90s kids to enjoy.  John Hughes wrote the screenplay and it stars the lovely Mara Wilson.

DECEMBER 1

Emelie - our own Sarah Bolger stars in this thriller about a disturbed babysitter who strikes terror into the three kids she's minding.  Probably not one to watch before you head off to that Christmas party leaving your little ones behind...

Kick-Ass - Matthew Vaughn's brilliant high octane superhero flick stars Aaron Taylor Johnson, Chloe Moretz, and Christopher Mintz Plasse.  A treat.

Meet Joe Black - Brad Pitt plays Death who toys with Anthony Hopkins before his demise and falls in love with Hopkins' daughter Claire Forlani.

Midnight Run - De Niro and Charles Grodin play a bounty hunter and an embezzler who has fallen foul of a mobster (Dennis Farina).  Brilliant.

Romantic Comedy - a 1983 romcom with Dudley Moore and Mary Steenburgen.

Sharknado - The original 2013 film needs no introduction.  It revels in its awfulness and ha spawned a sequel.  Tara Reid stars.

Daddy's Home - entertaining flick starring Mark Wahlberg as the macho dad who comes back to town to see his kids and ex-wife who is now married to the wimpy Will Ferrell. THe sequel is out in cinemas now.
