WATCH: The Late Late Toy Show best bits
It's not Ryan's dancing abilities (or lack thereof, as he admits himself), or the dodgy Christmas jumpers, or even the must-have toys that make the Late Late Toy Show top notch telly.
What makes it so compelling are the children. They say you should never work with children or animals but their honesty and innocence, and unpredictability that makes them so endearing.
There have been a few exceptional characters over the years who have made it through the Late Late Toy Show auditions to the show itself. Here are the faces (as well as overgrown children Boyzone and an impertinent dog called Oisin) who were the highlights of their respective shows.
Ed Sheeran surprises superfan Aimee Keogh (2014)
Aimee was demonstrating SingStar for Ryan Tubridy, singing along to Ed Sheeran's hit Lego House, when the man himself appeared on stage to surprise her. Aimee was bowled over by meeting her favourite singer and exclaimed, 'I'm hysterical!' as she tried to sing along to the computer game with Ed by her side.
Domnhall meets his hero Robbie Keane (2013)
This is probably the most adorable reaction to meeting your hero ever! Initially chatty Domhnall is lost for words but soon gives Ryan a run for his money in the interview stakes.
When Ryan met Douglas (2010)
Douglas reveals he wants to be a fashion designer and tells Ryan, "You're certainly nailing the Christmas look, I have to say!"
Toby meets Girls Aloud (2003)
Wee Toby sang Girls Aloud track 'Jump' for the audience but when the Girls appeared to surprise him he was a bit perturbed. When Pat Kenny asked him if he wanted to talk to the girls he said, 'No'. Bless.
John Joe Brennan (2009)
One of the most articulate young men to appear on the Late Late Show never mind the Toy Show, John Joe Brennan gave his opinion on the talents of Roald Dahl and revealed he wanted to be a horologist. When examining Ryan's watch he said, 'It's a very good mark, next to Rolex."
Ah just look at them playing scalextric.
Pat and Oisin (2000)
Whatever about kids you should NEVER work with animals. Oisin was more interested in the inanimate polar bear than giving the paw.
