It’s the murder mystery that has gripped EastEnders fans for the last 10 months – and tomorrow night Lucy Beale’s killer will finally be revealed.

But if fans of the soap are to be believed, they have the mystery solved already.

They have seen everything which has been going on in Albert Square before and after her death and are best placed to spot the clues. In a poll, 1,000 viewers were asked who they thought was guilty – and one suspect stands out above all the others.

Lucy’s own father, Ian Beale, was named the number one suspect by 15.5pc of those polled.

That puts him almost five percentage points ahead of Lucy’s ex-lover Max Branning, who racked up 10.6pc of the votes.

In third place in the poll – carried out online for the Press Assocation on Monday this week – was Lucy’s brother, Peter Beale, who 9.2pc of voters believe to be guilty.

All three are likely suspects. Ian argued with Lucy the night before she died, Peter resented her for being their dad’s favourite child as well as supplying her with drugs, and Max turned nasty when she tried to end their affair.

Ben Mitchell, Jane Beale and Abi Branning all racked up a reasonable amount of votes too.

Abi was angry about Lucy’s affair with her father, Max, while Ben has previously murdered Heather Trott.

Jane was supposed to be in Cardiff at the time of the murder, but her reappearance after Lucy’s death has raised suspicion.

Bookmakers William Hill currently have Jane and Ian’s son Bobby Beale as the favourite culprit, with odds at 4/1 – despite him only being 11-years-old.

Jane is second favourite with odds of 9/2.

Ian’s odds stand at 14/1 so some viewers could be set to make a tidy sum.

The truth will finally be revealed in an hour-long EastEnders special at 7.30pm tomorrow.
