Netflix's latest original series Stranger Things has everyone hooked - and for good reason.

It’s the first time highly-acclaimed actress Winona Ryder has starred in her first major TV role and within weeks of launching she’s earned rave reviews for her performance.

In a new Netflix featurette, Ryder opens up about her role as Joyce Byers, a single mother trying to find her son after he mysteriously disappears.

“I know a lot of women like that,” she said of her character, “who are good people but they struggle.”

“I like that there are sort of different story lines. You really don’t know what is around the corner or what is going to happen,” she said.

“It’s like putting the pieces of a puzzle together and it’s fun to watch."

Stranger Things is produced by Shawn Levy, the Duffer Brothers and Dan Cohen, and is currently streaming on Netflix.
