WATCH: The moment 'Eleven' gets her head shaved for Netflix's 'Stranger Things'
Millie Bobby Brown, the actress who plays Eleven on Netflix smash hit Stranger Things, has shared a video of the moment she buzzed her hair for the role.
When Millie auditioned for the role of Eleven, she had long brown hair down past her shoulders.
But the character was written as having hair “buzzed almost to the scalp" and her shorn head was key to the role.
The actress and her parents were reluctant to chop her hair off but the Duffer Brothers had a plan to convince Millie that her new hair would look "badass".
Mad Max: Fury Road had just come out while they were shooting Stranger Things so the directors pulled out a magazine photo of Charlize Theorn as Furiosa, complete with a buzzcut, and showed it to Millie.
They asked her if she thought Charlize looked "badass", Millie agreed and in that moment she decided to go along with the plans to chop her hair off.
The Duffer Brothers told Entertainment Weekly: “When the day of the haircut finally arrived, Millie’s mom brought out a camcorder, while her dad ran away with tears in his eyes, unable to watch. It was a pretty dramatic scene. But also very quick."
The added: “Within 10 minutes we had shaved it all off and slapped a fake ‘11’ tattoo on Millie’s wrist. Millie looked at herself in the mirror, gave her best Furiosa scream — and Eleven was born.”
Millie shared the video through Instagram on Sunday night. Watch it below. It's pretty great.
