Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon kicked off Saturday Night Live's 40th anniversary special this weekend with a rousing song and dance number.

And the momentum remained throughout the show with performances from Paul McCartney,  Paul Simon, Miley Cyrus, and Kanye West.

McCartney duetted with Paul Simon on The Beatles' 'I've Just Seen a Face' whilst Simon returned later in the show for the aptly-titled 'Still Crazy After All These Years'.

Kanye did a medley of 'Jesus Walks', 'Only One' and 'Wolves whilst Cyrus sang '50 Ways to Leave Your Lover'.

Here's that infectiously energetic Timberlake and Fallon intro:

Also check out Martin Short and Maya Rudolph (doing her best Beyonce) tackling the show's best musical comedy moments, rounded off with Bill Murray doing Nick Ocean...
