WATCH: Philip Schofield offers to clear debt of viewer who couldn't afford to take daughter on holiday
Philip Schofield offered to pay the debt of a This Morning viewer who couldn't afford to take her daughter on holiday following a break-up.
Jo called in to This Morning and revealed she broke up with her long term partner "out of the blue" and came home to a letter from her landlord saying the family was over £1000 in debt.
"This isn't the summer you expected it to be," said co-presenter Holly Willoughby.
Jo revealed she didn't know anything about the debt and when she confronted her partner he packed his bags and left.
"This happened a few days before my daughter's 11th birthday," said Jo, who sounded distressed.
"She's due to go to secondary school this year and obviously the summer holidays are coming and I don't know what I'm meant to do with her. She's coming home saying her friends are all doing this and doing that and obviously I really want to be able do stuff with her but at the moment I'm just affording to feed [us] and pay gas an electric and support us as a family never mind any of the extras a 11 year old girl wants during the summer holidays."
Jo called in to ask for advice because she couldn't afford to take her daughter on holiday this summer. What Phillip did next just made us smile!Posted by This Morning on Friday, July 14, 2017
The panelists on the segment suggested she take her daughter camping.
However, Philip then interjected and said, "Jo it's our last day, we're in a very good mood. We're going to sort your debt out. We're paying your debt. You're not in debt anymore. Have a lovely summer."
