Marco Pierre White was always going to be a controversial critic on The Restaurant and tonight he's responsible for a series first.

The legendary chef refuses to taste Nathan Carter's chicken wings and critique his food.

The country music sensation had been hoping to impress the diners with his classic menu which offered a choice between duck liver parfait and sticky chicken wings for starters, grilled rib eye steak and fish and chips for mains topped off with a choice of wagon wheel inspired cheesecake or sticky toffee pudding.

Unfortunately, the 'American' influenced menu is torn apart before Nathan even begins, and then it's another blow as Marco opts to start with the chicken wings...

"See, perfection is a lot of little things done well," says Marco while picking at a stick of celery.

"I don't want to be cruel so I'm not going to taste them."

In the kitchen, Carter says he's "disappointed" in the chef's decision and Marco continues, "They've fallen at the first so I'm not going to put the boot in."

"Sure, whatever," says Nathan.

Marco is joined by Tom Doorley and guest critic JP McMahon from Michelin starred Aniar Restaurant in Galway.

The Restaurant airs Wednesday (24th February) at 9pm on TV3.
