Video: True Detective Season 2 trailer - featuring our very own Colin Farrell

The new trailer for True Detective has dropped, showcasing seasons two's new star-studded cast.

Fans of the HBO series have been waiting over a year for the new series to air.

Set in California, a murder will bring together three law-enforcement officers and a career criminal, to solve a tale of conspiracy and betrayal.

The trailer reveals that the new season will air in the US on HBO June 21.

The second installment of the crime drama, which received rave reviews for its first season, will follow an entirely new plot, setting and cast, featuring Hollywood A-listers Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, and Vince Vaughn.

Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective in the all-industrial City of Vinci, LA, while Vince Vaughn will depict Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his life's work.

Meanwhile, Rachel McAdams is Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff's detective.

Season one won five Primetime Emmy awards, two Writers Guild of America awards, and was nominated for a Golden Globe.
