Two more celebrities are confirmed for RTE's Dancing with the Stars

Following the news that comedian Des Bishop has signed on to Dancing with the Stars, RTE has revealed the names of two more celebrities who'll be joining him.

Hoping to dance their way to the final and raise the glitterball trophy are actresses Aoibhin Garrihy and Denise McCormack.

Newlywed Aoibhin, who shot to fame in 2010 when she landed the roll of Neasa Dillon in Fair City, said she's "delighted" at the opportunity.

“I am so delighted to be involved in the very first Irish Dancing with the Stars and all its glittering glory," said The Fall actress.

"As an actor, the opportunity to learn a completely new art form in a very short space of time is both an exciting and nerve-racking concept! So far, the experience has been amazing and I'm really enjoying every minute of it! Here's to a delightful few months of dancing."

Denise McCormack, the IFTA-award winning actress who won Best Supporting Actress for her role as gangster’s moll Linda in Love/Hate, is also eager to get her dancing shoes on.

She currently plays the recurring role of “Bridget Kiely” in the drama Red Rock but will be taking on new challenges in the form of the cha-cha to the mambo and tango.

Speaking of the news she said: "I am am thrilled to be taking part in Dancing with the Stars, It’s such a privilege as I have always loved dancing, I did a bit as a kid but to learn it professionally is a whole new challenge

Earlier this week Amanda Byram and Nicky Byrne were confirmed to present the first series of Dancing with the Stars. 

Airing on RTÉ One for 12 weeks from 6.30pm Sunday 8 January, a total of 11 celebrities will be taking part.

If the main show isn’t enough for dancing fans, Friday nights at 8.30pm on RTÉ One will feature Can’t Stop Dancing, the preview show for Dancing with the Stars hosted by Bláthnaid Treacy.
