TV3 set to revive Lucy Kennedy's most famous show
TV3 is reviving Lucy Kennedy's hit show Livin' With Lucy, which originally ran on RTE.
The reality programme, which featured Kennedy moving into the homes of an eclectic range of celebrities, is expected to appear in TV3's autumn schedule.
In her first break-out show, Kennedy managed to entice several well-known faces into opening the doors of their homes to her and a camera crew.
The bubbly star, who is due her third baby at Christmas, interviewed Jermaine Jackson, Shane Lynch and the late Jade Goody during the course of the show, which ran on RTE for three series from 2008-2010.
An inside source told the Herald that the show was expected to go into pre-production shortly, as they begin approaching celebrities about taking part.
"It's definitely happening. It's something that has been in the pipeline for a while but, like a lot of other shows, TV3 hadn't signed off on anything until the new bosses were in place," the source said.
"The programme was a huge hit for RTE and TV3 is hoping it will prove similarly successful for them.
"Lucy's one of their biggest stars and they really believe it's the perfect vehicle for her talents."
The Seven O'Clock show presenter recently hinted that a new show was on the cards.
Asked about whether she would like to make Livin' With Lucy again, she said it was a possibility.
"It might be [coming back]. I loved it, that's where my heart will always lie.
"I think it could work on TV3, but it's one of a few projects," Kennedy said.
She is expected to begin filming the new series shortly, and will have to juggle fronting the evening show on TV3 with presenting the celebrity programme.
Kennedy first appeared on television as Podge & Rodge's sidekick on the puppets' tongue-in-cheek RTE show 10 years ago, before she landed Livin' With Lucy.
The show had some memorable moments, such as the time harmonica player Don Baker enticed Kennedy into his jacuzzi.
She also experienced first-hand what life was like for reality star Jade Goody as she was also targeted by the paparrazi while filming the show.
Kennedy married Richard Governey in 2008, and she is expecting her third child with him.
She already has little Holly (3) and Jack (5) and is adamant that this is her last pregnancy, so she's "savouring every moment".
She found out she was expecting on her 40th birthday.
"I think some people feel done after one, some after two, some might be more. I always had three in my head," she said.
