'The Late Late Toy Show' is RTE's highest rating programme of 2014, pulling average ratings of 1,357,400 viewers.

The festive show dropped 20,000 viewers when compared to last year's figures of 1,547,000 but still outflanked the season finale of Stuart Carolan's drama 'Love/Hate' which pulled in ratings of 1,005,000.

"I'd like to thank everyone for watching it," host Ryan Tubridy said.

"It's a bonkers programme and I love presenting it. But it's the children who make the show what it is."

The programme has been streamed online over 150,000 times - an increase of 32,000 from last year. The theme of the 2014 'Toy Show' was inspired by musical 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' with Tubridy performing several dance routines.
