Those Game of Thrones Night Watch capes are made from IKEA rugs
HBO reportedly spends $8m on each episode of Game of Thrones but it seems they're pretty thrifty with their cash.
While they undoubtedly shell out the vast majority of that budget on battles like the one featured in episode 4 of the current season, the wardrobe department make do with a little make and do.
Speaking during a presentation at the Getty Museum, costume designer Michelle Clapton revealed that the capes of the Night Watch crew are made from humble IKEA rugs.
"These capes are actually IKEA rugs," she said, "We take anything we can; we cut and we shave them and then we added strong leather straps."
She added, "I want the audience to almost smell the costumes."
Debate is raging over which rugs are likely to be the ones used.
Some favour the RENS sheepskin (€35)...
...while others back the cow hide KOLDBY (€225).
We reckon they're the SKOLD (€45).
Add a few leather straps and off you go.
