'This is the dream job' - Brian O'Donovan announced as RTE's Washington Correspondent
Journalist Brian O'Donovan has been appointed as RTE's new Washington Correspondent.
Brian said he is "absolutely delighted" and is looking forward to beginning his new job in January.
He is taking over from his colleague Caitriona Perry, who will join Keelin Shanley as an anchor on RTE's Six One News.
Brian, who is originally from Cork, has worked as a multimedia journalist with RTÉ since 2015 and has reported on TV and radio news programmes including the Six One and Nine O'Clock news programmes.
He has also reported on major international news stories, including the verdict of the Molly Martens Corbett trial in North Carolina and the Nice terror attacks.
Brian studied Communications in Dublin City University and began his broadcasting career with Cork radio station Red FM.
After three years with RED FM, he then moved to TV3 in 2005 and over ten years there he held various positions including news reporter, finance correspondent and documentary maker.
He currently lives in Dublin with his wife and their two children.
Brian said he is looking forward to his new challenge.
He said: "I am absolutely delighted. For me, this is the dream job.
"I have very big shoes to fill following on from my colleague Caitriona Perry and I am really looking forward to starting in Washington in the New Year."
