Gogglebox bosses are concerned that the show’s stars are becoming “too famous” and ruining the original concept of the show.

Figures for the show have dramatically increased since the series began in 2013 and producers are worried that the characters’ newfound stardom will make the show lose its appeal.

“The cast are the hottest things around right now and brands are offering big money to snap them up for other TV projects and endorsements – but Channel Four bosses fear the more they’re seen, the less appeal the show will have.

"There have been discussions amongst the cast about negotiating any contracts ahead of the next series with what they can and can’t do,” a source told The Sun.

25-year-old Scarlett Moffatt in particular has garnered major attention with her witty comments and personable humour on the show, with her popularity even scoring her a book deal.

“Scarlett is one of the most sought-after names in TV right now. Producers and casting directors have cottoned on to how popular she is," added the source.

Scarlett was reportedly offered a place on this year’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, but her strict Gogglebox contract allegedly refrains her from appearing on other television shows.

Famous or not, we like the Gogglebox cast just the way they are.
