The team-playing is over for The Voice of Ireland as next week the remaining eight contestants will go head to head for a place in the final.

Singers Patrick Donaghue and John Sheehy (Team Una), Helena Bradley Bates and John Bonham (Team Kian), Kieran McKillop and Sarah McTernan (Team Rachel) and Emma Humber and Denise Morgan (Team Bressie) are all through to next week's semi-final.

The remaining 12 contestants of the Voice of Ireland took to the stage of the Helix tonight in the hope of getting through to the semi-final next week.

While Brendan McCahey, last year’s winner performed one of his own songs 'Safe and Well', the public were given 15 minutes to have their say and the highest scoring contestant on each team went straight through to next week's showdown.

It was then up to each coach to choose only one other contestant from their team to perform again next week for another chance at the overall prize.

The remaining eight contestants will all go head to head next week with the four acts with the highest public vote going through to the final.

This means some of the coaches may not have an act in the grand final... let the competition begin.
