The top 10 TV shows of 2016 have been revealed.

Movie and television information haven IMDb has revealed the top 10 television programmes of 2016 - and you might be surprised with what has made the list.

Irish-Canadian historical drama Vikings earned ninth place on the list, with filming for the series taking place in Ireland. Vikings first aired in 2013, with season five set to hit screens in 2017.

The show has nine Primetime Emmy nominations, and has won three IFTAs.

Game of Thrones fans won't be surprised to learn that the fantasy drama topped the list as the highest ranking television show among over 200 million monthly visitors.

Two Netflix Original shows make the list, with Stranger Things coming in second place and Orange is the New Black ranking eighth.

The Walking Dead takes third place, while science-fiction series Westworld sits in fourth.

The Flash and Mr Robot rank sixth and seventh, and Daredevil completes the list in tenth.
