The Last Ship goes on production hiatus as Eric Dane fights depression

By Julia Hunt

Eric Dane apparently asked for a few weeks off.

Production on US TV show The Last Ship has been halted while its star Eric Dane battles depression.

Variety reports that the series, which airs on cable network TNT, is going on a production hiatus after the actor asked for a few weeks of downtime.

A TNT spokesman confirmed the report to the Associated Press.

The Last Ship is about a US Navy destroyer at sea after a global catastrophe wipes out most of the world’s population.

Eric, who previously played “McSteamy” Dr Mark Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy, stars as captain Tom Chandler.

The actor, 44, is a father to two daughters with actress wife Rebecca Gayheart.

The show is set to return for a fourth season this summer.
