Allan Cubitt, the man behind Northern Ireland thriller The Fall, is hopeful that a third series will hit television screens this year.

The second season of The Fall began airing for audiences last November, while American audiences will have to wait for it to land on Netflix later this month.

The show’s writer/creator/director Allan Cubitt spoke at the Netflix-Television Critics' Association panel and expressed his positivity about the show being recommissioned.

“I can’t answer that at the moment but it’s a situation where I’m very confident there will be third season” pending an official greenlight from the BBC”, he revealed.

The Fall airs on BBC on a weekly basis, but when it drops on Netflix, viewers will be able to watch the whole series at their leisure.

Cubitt also cryptically hinted that the story might not be finished, and that he has ideas for an ending.
