A shock first elimination saw 'Mrs Brown's Boys' Eilish Brown axed from 'Dancing With The Stars' last night, as she announced age was never a factor in how she performed on the show.

Eilish and her pro dance partner, Ryan McShane, were sent home after a public vote - despite impressing judges with their sexy samba and the impressive swing action the grandmother showed at the sprightly age of 66.

"It was always going to be tough," Eilish said. "I didn't want it to be me but it was and I've really enjoyed myself, it's been a terrific short journey."

After she performed, judge Brian Redmond somewhat slated her performance but added: "I hope I have the same energy when I'm 66."

But Eilish told him in no uncertain terms age was "not a factor, I'm here to learn". The couple scored 12 for their efforts.

"I'm going to miss it," Eilish said after her elimination. "I'm going to have a lie in tomorrow, but it's been great."

When asked about Brian's comments, she said: "I thought they were fair enough, they were a bit harsh, but that is Brian.

"If you don't tick the box, you don't. He said what he thought and I thought it was fair comment.

"I always knew the age was going to be an issue, I brought it up first, I wanted to get it out of the way.

"Ryan came to my defence tonight, I didn't want age to be an issue, it was about the dance and how I danced."

Eilish said she didn't know why she was voted off and joked her exit may have been a mix up due to an earlier power cut at the studios in Bray, Co Wicklow, which saw the RTÉ show go off the air for more than five minutes.
