Saturday Night Show viewers react to Equality Minister Aodhán Ó Ríordáin being asked to remove his 'yes' pin in #Pingate

Viewers have reacted angrily to Minister of State for Equality Aodhán Ó Ríordáin being asked to remove his Yes Equality pin live on air during the Saturday Night Show on RTÉ

Host Brendan O'Connor interrupted his interview with Ó Ríordáin when he noticed the pin, which represents the Yes Equality campaign, on his lapel.

He asked the Labour Minister, “Can you take off that pin? The pin you’re wearing on your collar.” to which Ó Ríordáin replied “It’s a Yes pin.” as he removed it.

O'Connor then said, “You just made it worse,” and used the word 'no' to "balance" out the offending 'yes'.

Scott De Buitléir, who presented LGBT show Cosmo on RTE, and decided to leave the broadcaster over its policy regarding the Marriage Equality Referendum, posted the video to Twitter with the caption "Amazingly done @AodhanORiordain - just shows how petrified RTÉ are of #MarRef!!"

Viewers were also unimpressed by the turn of events, taking to Twitter to air their opinions:
