Before she was Buffy, Sarah Michelle Gellar shot to fame as Kathryn Merteuil in 1999 film Cruel Intentions, a modern-day Hollywood take on Dangerous Liaisons.
Now the actress has announced she will reprise the role of Kathyrn in NBC's TV series which picks up more than 15 years after the movie ended.
Gellar (37) will feature in the pilot and should the series be commissioned she will remain a regular cast member.
"That's right, 'Everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way,' 'kathrynmerteuil is back!!! I am happy to say that I will be joining them (and @nbctv) on the new#Crueltv," she posted on Instagram on Wednesday.
Accompanying the message was a pic of Gellar with producers Roger Kumble and Neal H Mortiz who will return for the NBC series.
The series will star Gellar at Kathyrn who introduces her cousin Bash Casey (Taylor John Smith) to a world of sex, money, power and corruption.
Since Buffy, Gellar has worked almost exclusively in TV on shows including All My Children, Ringer, The Crazy Ones, Robot Chicken, and Star Wars Rebels.
