Saoirse Ronan to host Saturday Night Live with musical guest U2
As Oscar buzz builds re her performance in Lady Bird, Saoirse Ronan is the star of the moment in the US and has been invited to host NBC's Saturday Night Live.
It's a big deal for Saoirse, who will present the show on December 2 with fellow Irish faces U2 providing the music on the night.
She follows in the footsteps of names including Chance the Rapper, Ryan Gosling, Gal Gadot, and Larry David as guest hosts this year alone.
It will mark the 23-year-old actress's first time on the long-running sketch series although U2 will be able to give her some pointers given they've already appeared three times.
They supported Val Kilmer in 2002, Luke Wilson in 2004, and Megan Fox in 2009.
Saoirse is currently garnering critical acclaim for her performance in Lady Bird, a coming of age story from writer director Greta Gerwig.
U2, meanwhile, are gearing up for the release of Songs of Experience on December 1.
