Rylan Clark-Neal and husband Dan set to make history as 'first gay couple to host This Morning'
Rylan Clark-Neal and his husband Dan are reportedly set to be the first gay couple to host This Morning.
Former The X Factor contestant Rylan, (27), has been a regular fixture as the ITV programme's showbiz correspondent for several months, and has also acted as a stand in when presenters Phillip Schofield and Eamonn Holmes have been away. He has always been paired with female co-hosts, such as Holly Willoughby and Ruth Langsford, but on 8 July, Rylan is set to make history when he presents the show alongside his spouse Dan Neal.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, the pair has been enlisted to stand in for Eamonn and Ruth while they're on holiday
"Rylan is hugely popular with the This Morning audience and working with Dan again will provide key chemistry a show like this requires with its hosts," a source told the publication.
It won't be the first time Rylan and Dan have worked together on screen. After they married last November (15), the couple teamed up to interview Christopher Cramp, one of the first men to have a civil partnership in the U.K.
The experience was enjoyable for Rylan, but being on camera with his spouse is going to take some time to get used to.
"It was weird. We felt like Ruth and Eamonn. It was really strange," Rylan said. "Obviously, me and Dan do a lot of work together away from TV on the development side, so we are used to doing stuff like that.
"But to do stuff on camera together was a little bit strange. But I really enjoyed doing it. It was really nice and it felt easy because it was something we both wanted to talk about."
Rylan and Dan first met when the former police officer appeared on Big Brother in 2013 and Rylan interviewed him for spin-off show Big Brother's Bit On the Side.
