Former RTÉ star Sheana Keane is to make her presenting comeback on TV3.

The 38-year-old, who hosted RTÉ's Afternoon Show for five years with Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh before they famously fell out, will be part of TV3's autumn schedule with a three-part documentary series about literacy.

Mother-of-two Sheana's return comes after a brief appearance on TV3 in May when she filled in for Lucy Kennedy on Late Lunch Live.

"I did a few little bits with TV3 on late Lunch Live which I really enjoyed - it was a lot of fun," she told the Herald.

"I'm developing a documentary series and we're in talks, but it will focus on literacy.

"I think it's a very important issue in Ireland, given that close half-a-million people here are illiterate."

It's a busy time for Sheana, who is also getting ready to take on an MA in mindful-based intervention and meditation in UCD.

"I have a degree in psychology but wanted to go back to retrain so I can use it," she said.

Sheana turned out yesterday at the launch of Upbeat On Air, St Patrick University Hospital's first all-digital pop-up radio station.

Upbeat On Air will be broadcast during Mental Health Awareness Week next month with a host of familiar voices taking to the airwaves.

Sheana was joined yesterday by 2fm DJ Ruth Scott, The Voice of Ireland's Eoghan McDermott and former Winning Streak presenter Geri Maye, who will all help out on the airwaves over the course of the week.
