RTE postponed live interview with Taoiseach for... 'significant' Eastenders episode

RTE announced earlier today that tonight’s Prime Time was to be postponed – to allow a signficant episode of Eastenders to be broadcast.

Prime Time’s live studio interview with An Taoiseach Enda Kenny, much anticipated by politics buffs, is now taking place at 10pm.

The prime time slot of 9.25pm was handed over to Eastenders The Flashback.

In a statement tonight, RTE said: “Once we were made aware by the BBC of the significance of this episode RTÉ made a decision to simulcast the episode with the BBC rather than disappoint Eastenders fans.”

The BBC has been keeping detailed programming information on Eastenders under wraps recently, due to the confidential nature of the ‘Who Killed Lucy?’ EastEnders storyline .

The Lucy Beale murder mystery has gripped EastEnders fans for the last 10 months – and tonight, her killer will finally be revealed.

An hour-long Eastenders episode will also been shown tonight at 7.30pm as scheduled.

The Flashback episode was initially scheduled for tomorrow night at 7:30pm.
