RTE news anchor Sharon Ni Bheolain isn't going anywhere
News anchor Sharon Ni Bheolain will continue her role at the helm of Irish news broadcasting.
The Six One host hinted a potential move from the state broadcaster in 2013, but an RTE spokesperson has clarified that Sharon is key to the future of their news coverage.
When asked by the Irish Sunday Mirror about her intentions to move on from Montrose, a spokesperson said: "In regards to what she meant, I'm afraid it's not my place to interpret Sharon's words directly. It is worth noting that many of our news presenters and reporters take on other projects as well as their current roles.
"Sharon continues to be a key presenter for RTE News."
In 2013, Sharon caused a stir with her comments in the RTE Guide, stating her desire to try something new and a number of potential names were thrown into the mix as her potential replacement, namely Colette Fitzpatrick.
“It’s been a very enjoyable experience, but I’m ready for something new,” she said at the time.
However, she doesn’t seem to have figured out yet what she would like to do next. “I’m not terribly ambitious; I think that’s probably my problem,” she said.
