Red Rock 'winning positive reviews' in the US as the award-winning series hits Amazon Prime
Red Rock has made a big impact in the US after its debut there, according to TV3.
The Herald can reveal that the award-winning soap has finally hit Amazon Prime and is reported to be going down well with viewers.
A TV3 spokeswoman said that while figures are not available to show exactly how many viewers streamed the show since it was first made available last Thursday, she has heard nothing but favourable reviews.
"We're delighted that Red Rock is such a success and is now widely available to an international audience on Amazon Prime," she said.
The show hit the headlines last November after it was revealed it had been sold on to the internet giant for €1m in a huge coup for TV3.
The first 44 episodes of the Dublin-made soap were made available to American viewers on February 18, and all 80 episodes will eventually be streamed on the site.
The second series is now airing here. Actress Ann Skelly (18), who plays teenager Rachel Reid on Red Rock, said she got some great feedback after the show aired in the States.
"It's doing really well so that's exciting and there's been positive reviews," she said. "I forgot about it, but then people were sending in little screen shots of it."
Ann added that fans are starting to recognise her more on the street, and she gets only a positive reaction.
"It's nice because you're walking down the street and they're like, 'I love Red Rock'. I haven't had tomatoes thrown at me yet," she said.
"I was in the supermarket and the check-out lady recognised me and I was really self-conscious.
"She said, 'You're your one', and I'm like, 'I am', and she said, 'Tell Paudge I love him'. Everyone seems to be really enjoying it."
