Poldark bosses worried Aidan Turner wasn’t ‘attractive’ enough for the role
Ross Poldark’s famed shirtless scything scene left the nation’s pulses racing, but the show’s producers feared audiences wouldn’t be impressed with Irish actor Aidan Turner.
The hit BBC series made the 32-year-old a global heartthrob, but apparently there were concerns during filming that he would be a flop with viewers.
Composer Anne Dudley, who wrote the theme song for the show, revealed that she had to dismiss the worries of Damien Timmer, executive producer of the series.

She told the Daily Telegraph that Timmer turned to her one day on set and asked, “Do you think women will find Aidan attractive?”
“I don’t think you’ll have any problems there,” Dudley replied.
Evidently, they did not - the period drama drew in millions of viewers, with 5.9m tuning in for the season finale.
The second season is currently being filmed, and is expected to air this autumn.
